GENERAL MEETING

NOVEMBER 19, 2009

Clyde Business & Professional Association had fifteen members and two guests present at the meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2009, held at First United Methodist Church.  The meal was catered by Legends.

Committee Reports:

Expo:  Connie Wohltman reported the Expo will be held March 27, 2010 at Harvest Baptist Temple from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  It will follow an agricultural theme.  Plans include a tractor show and petting zoo.  Committee volunteers are needed.  The committee meets the second Tuesday of each month (excluding December) at 12:30 at Our Town’s Brewin’.

Winesburg:  Becky Brooks distributed schedules for the weekend.  She noted that Clyde Pro Hardware is having a train display ($1 admission).  Three craft shows will be held (VFW, Eagles, and Arbors).  The committee has received $1,800 in donations.  By adding this to what is available in bed tax funds, the event should finish in the black.  Becky noted that volunteers may be needed for the parade on Saturday.  Contact Ken Dick if you are able to help.

Treasurer’s Report:

Sonya Smith reported the following fund balances:

                                    General Fund $5,799.05

                                    Winesburg                 $2,321.52

                                    Primary Share           $   575.18

Motion was made by Sandi Arndt and seconded by Becky Brooks to approve the treasurer’s report.  Motion carried.

Secretary’s Report/Minutes:

There were no minutes available as the secretary resigned and has not turned over the records yet.

Old Business:

Leadership Sandusky County did not select the BPA project, but we will consider applying for future projects.

Those present were asked to be thinking about ways to improve the attendance at general meetings.  Frequency and time of day were two areas to ponder.  Suggestions may be emailed to one of the officers or bring them to the December social.

Katelyn Clapp stated that City Council had approved the BPA request for $12,500 in bed tax funds for  2010.

New Business:

Nancy Greenslade presented the slate of officers for 2010 as follows:

                        President                   Kevin Michel

                        1st Vice President     Becky Brooks

                        2nd Vice President    David Weirich

Motion was made by Connie Wohltman and seconded by Sandi Arndt to approve the slate as presented.  Motion carried.

Questions were raised about mailing monthly newsletters.  There are eighteen members who receive all mailings via the post office.  All others use email.  It was suggested that those without email receive quarterly mailings rather than monthly mailings to help reduce costs.  Carolyn Farrar volunteered to contact those without email to get their opinion (or possibly an email address).
